Classifiying and Treating H Pylori

This article should guide you very deeply into the topic, simply follow the points described.

Science and biology may not have been your strongest classes during school, but hopefully you do remember how organisms are classified and how they are put into their proper species. You do not remember? Then let's use H pylori bacterium as an example. This tough unicellular organism is responsible for the majority of ulcers diagnosed in billions of people each year. It can cause diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pains. It is also incredibly tough and is the only organism on the planet that can live in human stomach acid and still thrive.

Everything in the animal kingdom, the plant world and the bacterium world is classified using methods. It begins with Kingdom and ends with Species. Here is the scientific family and classification for Helicobacter pylori: Kingdom (Bacteria), Phylum (Proteobacteria), Class (Epsilon Proteobacteria), Order (Campylobacterales), Genus (Helicobacter) and Species (Helicobacter pylori). That is quite a mouthful. You probably will never be tested on that so do not worry overly about remembering the details. What you should pay attention to is that it is a bacterium.

Helicobacter pylori are tricky devils. It is the only organism alive on this planet that can withstand the acidic environment of our stomachs. It secretes its own enzymes that help protect it from the acidity. This is bad news for the person infected because it is easy to develop an H pylori ulcer. In fact, many of the ulcers that occur in the human body are the direct result of pylori such as the stomach ulcer, the duodenal ulcer or the esophageal ulcer.

H pylori infections are treated at the same time the ulcer is treated. The typical approach is a three part course of drugs. Of course there is the antibiotic for the actual pylori infection, but there are also two medicines that will heal the ulcer. These two medicines are clarithromycin and pantoprazole. When all three are taken together for a stomach ulcer or duodenal ulcer the results are very good and the patient will usually heal.

Today's Tip On Ulcers

Helicobacter pylori is one tough little critter. This unicellular organism is the only organism on the planet that can withstand the acidic environment of the stomach. It will never die if left untreated and can cause you a world of hurt. It is responsible for most gastrointestinal ulcers, gastritis and duodenitis. Wherever it goes it leaves a noticeable train of sickness such as diarrhea, vomiting, pain and nausea. It can also be responsible for an h pylori infection which can cause death should an ulcer perforate the stomach lining and spill the contents into the body cavity.
